The realisation of the idea for this project came with exhilarating rapidity: I began the writing process during the hot and heady summer of 2003 and then, four months later, the group played its first gig with the new CD pressed and ready for sale! I’d wanted to take a change in direction from my previous group CD, having in mind an album of textural soundscapes - something of an aural travelogue. Funnily enough, I began with an album title: ‘Weird Weather Wanderings’ (which led to the weather-related title tracks throughout most of the album). Just before going to press however, I realised that the group name itself felt wholly appropriate for the album title and so Weird Weather Wanderings was ditched.
The band all got very much behind the spirit of the music and turned out great performances and the technical production is particularly good, thanks to the wizardry of engineer Derek Nash. If you buy this album, please play it on the best hi-fi you can, with the volume turned nicely up. It’ll be worth it!
