The third Curious Paradise album sees the group returning to the studio format – though not perhaps in the conventional manner: we rented a cottage at a secret location in Sussex, and in the manner of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple et al, created our own ‘studio’ with sound-meister Adrian Zolotuhin. This idea seems to have born the desired fruits: the ‘no-pressure’ situation allowed the band to play, unrestricted by any commercial studio considerations, much as we would at a live gig, whilst employing the desired studio facilities for shaping the final soundscapes.
This, for me, represents my most developed writing and the interpretation by the musicians is spot on. Everybody in the band sounds on top of their respective and collective game. The end result is a kicking album which shares a live intensity with top-quality studio audio.
